Strick fired the low round of the day in Sunday’s final round with a 5-under 66 at the Innisbrook Resort’s difficult Copperhead Course. Definitely an Advanced Performance from the world number four!

Nike Golf Congratulates Tiger Woods on Fed Ex Cup Victory!
For starters, there’s walking away with the PGA TOUR Championship at East Lake by eight strokes, notching a remarkable 28 birdies in the process. Tiger’s fairway-splitting tee shots, dead-eye iron play and lights-out putting capped off 11 consecutive rounds in the 60’s during the FedEx Cup, easily securing him the inaugural championship title.
Then, of course, there’s having three Nike Golf pros in the top five of the FedEx Cup. K.J. Choi and Rory Sabbatini’s consistently solid play netted them respective 4th and 5th place finishes out of the 144-player field.
And finally, there’s the three things you’ll find in the arsenal of each of these players; the winningest equipment that not only dominated the FedEx Cup, but the entire PGA TOUR.

Woody Austin's Golf Shirts - Soon to be an End of an Era
Woody Austin said in his press conference on Friday at the PGA Championship about his unique golf shirts:
"The ones that I refuse to wear are the plain ones. I have a lot of plain ones with the Tabasco name or the leaf. But anybody can wear a plain white shirt. From what I understand, though, this will be the last year for me. So they are not making these shirts anymore. So everybody can leave me alone, I guess. At least I don't wear lavender purple pants with white belts... At least I'm not wearing from head to toe in pink with pink shoes and matching tassels."
Sad to see it happen. Word is that Chiliwear, the company that makes the shirts is having financial problems. They are based in New Orleans so I am sure Hurricane Katrina did not help the cause. Hopefully they will pull through and keep Woody looking like Woody.

TaylorMade to Offer Sergio's Belly Putters
TaylorMade Golf announced today that they are going to offer a limited number of the Corzine belly putters that Sergio Garcia used to finish 2nd at the British Open. Here is an except from their press release:TaylorMade's Rossa Corzina putterhead is a smaller version of the popular Monza® Corza™, and was designed to appeal to players seeking high MOI in a more compact putterhead. Like the Monza Corza, Corzina features a wire-frame head design and AGSI®+ technology for smooth roll and soft feel. Outfitted with a True Temper long-taper ski pole shaft, the limited edition Corzina Belly putter measures 42" with a head weight of 365 grams and is available for $179. The standard Corzina putter carries a price tag of $149.
"Throughout the British Open, the success of Sergio Garcia's putting with the new Rossa Corzina – and the attention to the belly putter shaft – spawned many phone calls and e-mails to our offices around the world asking where that model could be purchased," said Sean Toulon, TaylorMade-adidas Golf executive vice president. "Sergio used a prototype that was created with custom specifications, but due to the overwhelming demand for that specific Corzina belly putter we are able to create a limited quantity with those same specifications to fulfill the wishes of our consumers."
The putter Sergio used at the Open Championship was built for his father, Victor, by TaylorMade's tour department. Sergio tried it at his home in Spain and first put it into play at the Scottish Open, followed by The Open Championship at Carnoustie. It became a popular subject in his post-round press conferences, and he noted that he had far more confidence in it under pressure than with a standard-length putter.

What Padraiq Harrington Played at the British
Padraiq Harrington came back from 6 shots on Sunday to win the British Open in a playoff against Sergio Garcia. He used almost all Wilson Golf Clubs and the Titleist Pro V1x golf ball. According to Wilson Golf: "Harrington, a Wilson Staff professional since 1998, is instrumental in the development of the new Wilson Staff irons, driver and wedges. He plays the Wilson Staff Pi (Performance Irons/#3-PW), Dd6+ Driver, Fw6 (Fairway #5-wood), Fh6 Hybrid (19°) and Tw7 Wedges (52° and 60°). He also wears Wilson Staff headwear and carries a Wilson Staff Tour Bag." The win marked the 59th Major tournament title won with Wilson irons. It is Padraig's first major title, and the first Open title won by a European player since 1999, when Paul Lawrie won on the same Carnoustie track, also playing Wilson irons. See his Bag Check >

Picture of Sergio Trying Vijay's Belly Putter at the 2007 Masters
Insightful article today in the DailyPress today that mentioned: "Garcia had resisted going to the belly putter. Vijay Singh, who uses one, had been urging him to make the switch for more than a year." A friend reminded me today about how we followed Sergio, Vijay, Tom Pernice Jr. and Camilo Villegas during their practice round Tuesday at the Masters. The players practiced putting on the 6th green for a long time. Sergio borrowed Vijay's Never Compromise Belly putter and hit several putts. He was rolling it quite well. Sergio's Belly Putter at the British Open
Great article on GolfWeek.com about Sergio's new belly putter that he is using at the British Open, discussing how the new putter has given him new hope. The model is a prototype Rossa Corzina. I looked around online for a bit to see if I could find at a golf store this morning, but was unable to find anything. Rest assured, if he wins, they will be everywhere.

Jonathan Byrd Wins the John Deere Classic
A strong back nine on Sunday secured Jonathan Byrd the victory at the John Deere Classic and a place at this weeks British Open. Byrd uses the Titleist Pro V1x Golf Ball, Mizuno MP-32 Irons, Callaway FT-3 Woods.
It was another impressive week for Titleist, as 8 of the top 10 finishers played their golf balls. All 5 players that tied for 6th place played Titleist, with 4 of them using the Pro V1x.
Pro V1x continues to distance itself in the ProsPlay Cup Race. I think every other ball has been mathematically eliminated from contention.
