Titleist Tour Leadership Notes For Week Ending May 4, 2008 May 4, 2008 PGA TOUR: Titleist was the most played golf ball at the Wachovia Championship with 102 players, more than five times the nearest competitor with 20. In addition, Titleist was first in iron sets (T-36), wedges (140) and putters (55). Titleist was second in drivers (38) and fairway woods (40). Titleist ambassador Ben Curtis (Pro V1x, D2 driver, 906F2 fairway metal, 585.H utility metal, AP2 irons, Vokey Design approach wedge, TVD lob wedge, Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 2 putter) finished solo second after posting a 7-under 65, the best final round in the tournament’s six year history. Curtis trusted Titleist from tee-to-green, including the Pro V1x golf ball, new AP2 irons and Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 2 putter. Titleist ambassador Jason Bohn (Pro V1x, 905R driver, 906F2 fairway metal, 670 irons, Vokey Design wedges, Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport putter) finished solo third at 10-under, his best finish since returning from a six-month layoff due to injury. The winner, who has played a Scotty Cameron putter at every event this year, returned to the same model with which he finished T2 at the Verizon two weeks ago. Scotty Cameron putters have been the winning choice of 10 champions on the 2008 PGA TOUR, more than twice the nearest competitor with four. In fact, Cameron loyalists have been on a roll, winning four of the last five events (including the Masters) and seven of the last nine. CHAMPIONS TOUR: Denis Watson (Pro V1x, 905S driver, 695CB irons, Vokey Design approach wedge) birdied the final hole for a final round 3-under 69 and a one-shot victory at the FedEx Kinko's Classic over three players, including 2007 winner Scott Hoch (Pro V1x) and Tim Simpson (Pro V1). Watson finished with a 10-under 206 total. The win was the second victory of the year and the fourth overall on the Champions Tour for Watson. He won the AT&T Classic in March. Of the 12 players who finished among the Top 10 and ties, eight trusted Titleist golf balls for their success. Titleist was the most played golf ball at the FedEx Kinko's Classic with 53 players, compared to nine for the nearest competitor. In addition, Titleist was first in wedges (44) and second in drivers (16), iron sets (16) and putters (13). The win was the 10th by a Titleist golf ball player through the first 12 events on the 2008 Champions Tour. NATIONWIDE TOUR: Bryan DeCorso (Pro V1x, ZB Forged irons, Vokey Spin Milled pitching, sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport putter) ran away with the South Georgia Classic presented by First State Bank and Trust Co. for his first win on the Nationwide Tour. The 36-year old fired four consecutive rounds in the 60's including a final round 3-under 69 to win by three shots over fellow Pro V1x players Bryce Molder (Pro V1x, 905R driver, 906F2 fairway metal, 695CB irons, Vokey Design pitching, sand and lob wedges) and Greg Owen (Pro V1x, Vokey Design approach and lob wedges). He finished at 14-under 274. The victory vaults DeCorso to No. 4 on the 2008 money list. The top 25 at the end of the year will move onto the PGA TOUR in 2009. Titleist was the most played golf ball at the South Georgia Classic with 106 players, more than six times the nearest competitor with 16. The win was the eighth by a Titleist golf ball player through the first nine events on the 2008 Nationwide Tour. In addition, Titleist was first in irons sets (48), wedges (143) and putters (57). Titleist was second in drivers (34). PGA EUROPEAN TOUR: Home favorite Ignacio Garrido (Pro V1x) finished runner-up in a playoff at the Open de España at Real Club de Golf de Sevilla. Garrido, playing in the final group, drained a 30-foot putt for birdie on the 72nd hole to force the playoff. Soren Hansen (Pro V1x) holed his second shot on the eighth for an eagle two en route to a round of 69 which saw him finish in third place, one shot out of the playoff. Titleist was the most played golf ball at the Open de Espana with 119 players, more than eight times the nearest competitor with 14. LPGA TOUR: Titleist was the most played golf ball at the SemGroup Championship with 107 players, nearly four times the nearest competitor with 27. JAPAN TOUR: Hiroyuki Fujita (Pro V1) finished runner-up in a playoff at the Chunichi Crowns after the eventual champion drained a 17-footer in the decisive extra hole to seal the win. Fujita, a five-time winner on the tour, birdied the 18th to finish with a final round 67 and a 9-under 271 total in the regulation to force the playoff. Titleist was the most played golf ball at The Crowns with 51 players, as compared with the nearest competitor with 21. In addition, Titleist was first in hybrid woods (7) and wedges (45). ASIAN TOUR: InnChoon Hwang (Pro V1x) parred the first playoff hole to win the Maekyung Open in Korea. Titleist was the most played golf ball at the Maekyung Open with 127 players, more than nine times the nearest competitor with 13. In fact, 10 of the 11 players who finished among the top 10 and ties trusted Titleist golf balls for their success. In addition, Titleist was the field favorite in driver (43), irons (43) and wedge (142) categories at the event that was co-sanctioned with the Korean Tour. WORLDWIDE WINS: With three more wins this week, Titleist golf players have accumulated 56 victories across the worldwide professional tours, four times the nearest competitor with 14 and more than all other golf balls combined. >
