GEOFF OGILVY MAKES EVERY SHOT COUNT WITH TITLEIST AT KAPALUA January 12, 2009 Love Trusts New 2009 Pro V1x Golf Ball to Give Titleist a 1-2 Finish at Mercedes-Benz Championship Fairhaven, MA (January 12, 2009) - A new year, a new season and another impressive start for Titleist, as Geoff Ogilvy trusted his Pro V1 golf ball to capture the Mercedes-Benz Championship in wire-to-wire fashion. It marked the fifth career PGA Tour title for the 2006 U.S. Open champion, who advanced to No. 6 in the world ranking following the win. In fact, it was a 1-2 finish for Titleist golf ball loyalists, as Davis Love III relied upon the new 2009 Pro V1x and a full bag of Titleist golf clubs for his success. Twenty players in the winners-only event relied upon Titleist, ten of whom put the new 2009 Pro V1 or Pro V1x into play during the first week it was available for competition. TITLEIST TOUR HIGHLIGHTS FOR WEEK ENDING JANUARY 11, 2009 PGA TOUR: Geoff Ogilvy finished the final round the way he started, six shots clear of the 33-player winners-only field at the Mercedes-Benz Championship. Ogilvy posted a final round 5-under 68 to win the season-opening event in wire-to-wire fashion, finishing at 24-under 268. Titleist Brand Ambassador Davis Love III continued his momentum from winning the final PGA Tour event of 2008 and a lifetime exemption on the PGA TOUR, by closing with a 6-under 67 to finish in a tie for 2nd at 18-under 274. SURVEY SAYS … TITLEIST SWEEPS MAJOR EQUIPMENT CATEGORIES: According to the Darrell Survey, Titleist was the most played golf ball at the limited-field event with 20 players, more than three times the nearest competitor with 6 in the 33-player field. Titleist also swept the major golf club equipment categories, as the choice of more players in drivers (T-10), fairway metals (17), iron sets (11), wedges (36) and putters (13). BY THE NUMBERS: Statistically, Geoff Ogilvy finished first in Putts per GIR (1.645) and T3 in Putts Per Round (29) with his Scotty Cameron putter. Cameron putters were played by five of the Top 10 finishers, including the top three. Davis Love III tied for 3rd in Greens in Regulation (87.5%), 5th in Putts per GIR (1.698) and 6th in Driving Distance (287.1). He also led the field in Eagles with 3 relying on Titleist through the bag from tee-to-green. D.J. Trahan, who became the newest Titleist Brand Ambassador during the off-season, tied for sixth overall, but finished T3 in Greens in Regulation (87.5%) playing his new Titleist ZM irons for the first time in competition.
