Titleist Tour Report - Watson wins Senior British & Romero Wins in Europe

Fairhaven, MA (July 30, 2007) - When victory is on the line, players must rely on trust to achieve success. Trust in themselves and their golf ball. This week was no exception as Tom Watson added another major to his storied career with a one shot win at the Senior British Open, while Andres Romero earned his first PGA European Tour title at the Deutsche Bank Players’ Championship. On the Nationwide Tour, Roland Thatcher captured his second victory in five weeks, advancing Titleist's 2007 worldwide win total to 116. That's over 100 more wins than the nearest competitor with 15.

Titleist highlights for week ending July 29, 2007:

CHAMPIONS TOUR: Relying upon the New Pro V1 golf ball, Tom Watson shot a final round 73 en route to his third Senior British Open Championship in five years. It marked the fifth senior major for Watson. His even par 284 total was one better than Titleist ambassador Mark O'Meara and overnight leader Stewart Ginn, giving New Pro V1 players a 1-2-3 sweep. Four players tied for fourth at 4-over par, including Titleist ambassador Jay Haas and defending champion Loren Roberts, each of whom relied upon the Pro V1.

Titleist was the golf ball of choice at the Senior British Open with 109 players (76%), nearly 10 times the nearest competitor with 11. The win is the 14th for Titleist players on the 2007 Champions Tour, more than four times the nearest competitor with 3.

PGA EUROPEAN TOUR: Pro V1x loyalist Andres Romero closed with a final round 2-under 70 to win his first PGA European Tour title at the Deutsche Bank Players' Championship. The 26-year-old, who placed third at last week's British Open, finished the tournament with a 19-under 269 total, three shots clear of two players, including New Pro V1x player, Soren Hansen. With the victory, Romero becomes the 15th first-time winner on the PGA European Tour this season and earns a spot in this week's WGC-Bridgestone Invitational as well as the PGA Championship in two weeks.

Titleist was the most played golf ball at the event with 103 players (66%), more than five times the nearest competitor with 20. Romero's win marks the 22nd by Titleist golf ball players on the 2007 PGA European Tour, more than five times the nearest competitor with 4.

NATIONWIDE: New Pro V1x player Roland Thatcher closed with a final round 6-under 65 to win the Cox Classic for his second win in five weeks. Thatcher fired four rounds in the 60's to finish with a 24-under 260 total en route to a one-shot win. The victory is Thatcher's third career Nationwide Tour title.

Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball of choice at the Cox Classic with 118 players (74%), over 100 more than the nearest competitor with 11. Titleist was also trusted by more players than any other brand in the iron (49), wedge (133) and putter (48) categories. The victory is the 13th for Titleist golf ball players on this year's Nationwide Tour, more than all other golf balls combined.

PGA TOUR: Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball of choice at the Canadian Open with 123 (79%) players relying upon the Pro V1 or Pro V1x, more than 13 times the nearest competitor with 9. Titleist was also the most played iron (43), wedge (172) and putter (64).

LPGA TOUR: New Pro V1 player Jeong Jang forced a playoff at the Evian Masters, firing birdies on three of her last four holes, including the last, to finish regulation at 4-under 284. Titleist was the most played golf ball at the event with 68 players (76%), more than five times the nearest competitor with 12.

TITLEIST IS THE OVERWHELMING CHOICE OF EQUIPMENT AT U.S. JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP.

U.S. JUNIOR AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP: As the country’s top junior boy golfers gathered this week at Boone Valley Golf Club in Augusta, Mo. for their national championship, an overwhelming 145 of the 156 players, 93 percent of the field, relied upon Titleist golf balls. That is 36 times the nearest competitor with 4. In addition to its golf ball success, Titleist was also the top choice across every major equipment category, with more players than any other brand in the driver (83 vs. 20), fairway metal (139 vs. 35), utility metal (45 vs. 15), iron (70 vs. 27), wedge (221 vs. 52) and putter (89 vs. 19) categories.

It was an all-Titleist golf ball final, with the left-handed 15-year-old champion posting an 8 and 7 victory over his 14-year old opponent in the scheduled 36-hole championship match. In addition to relying upon the New Pro V1x golf ball, the winner also trusted a full bag of Titleist golf clubs, including the new 907D2 driver (9.5), 906F2 fairway metal (15.0), 585.H utility metal (19.0), 695CB irons (3-9), Vokey Design pitching (48), sand (54) and Spin Milled lob (58) wedges and a Scotty Cameron Mil-Spec putter.

The runner-up played the New Pro V1 golf ball, as well as the 907D2 driver, 585.H utility metal, and Vokey Design approach, sand and lob wedges for his success.

U.S. GIRLS’ JUNIOR AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP: At the U.S. Girls’ Junior Amateur Championship contested at the Tacoma Country and Golf Club, Titleist accounted for over 90 percent of the field in the golf ball category with 141 players, compared to 8 for the nearest competitor. Titleist also was the driver choice of more players than any other competitor with 35.

In the all-Titleist golf ball final, the 14-year old Girls’ champion relied upon the New Pro V1 in the 4 and 3 victory over her 17-year old opponent. In addition to playing the New Pro V1x, the runner-up also relied upon Vokey Design sand and lob wedges, as well as the Scotty Cameron Futura Phantom putter.
