Inside the TaylorMade Tour Van at The Masters April 9, 2008 Unique from other PGA Tour events, equipment tour vans are required to set up shop outside the grounds of Augusta National Golf Club. We arrived Sunday morning and parked in a lot just across the street from the main entrance. The close location gave us a chance to mingle a little with the general public who stopped by to say hello and offer a glimpse for them to see what goes on in the trailer. Typically this week is relatively slow considering most tour pros have already dialed in their equipment in preparation for the challenging conditions and don't make too many changes. Heavy rains on Saturday made for soft conditions early in the week, however a much drier forecast is expected to dramatically firm up the greens and fairways by the weekend. Making several trips back and forth from the practice range, we built and delivered a few high-lofted hybrids and fairway woods for players including Shaun Micheel, Todd Hamilton, Peter Lonard and Justin Rose. Sean O'Hair requested some new wedges to test to achieve a higher flop shot, so we gave him three 58° Z TP's with different bounces. Nick Faldo stopped in Tuesday to do some customizing on a new set of irons and also get two Tour Burner TP drivers and a Burner TP 3-wood. Brandt Snedeker received a new Burner TP driver and will be putting it into play for the first time in his professional career. Continuing a long TaylorMade Tradition, each TaylorMade Staffer received their new staff bag, hats and headcovers complete with the 2008 Special Edition logo. The bags are blue this year and in recognition of the 1958 patron ticket and the logo has a lot of great detail. Many of the players have commented on how much they like the look of this year's bag and on how they look forward to seeing what TaylorMade reveals for each major. Also a long-standing tradition, TaylorMade hosts a Tuesday night southern hospitality dinner for our Tour staff as well as customers and employees who made the trip. This year players that came included Sergio Garcia, Retief Goosen, Sean O'Hair, Peter Lonard, Vaughn Taylor, Andres Romero and Richard Sterne. The dinner is always a huge hit and a great way to kick off the tournament rounds in a laid-back, comfortable atmosphere. Look for the new Tour Burner to be the top driver model in the field. It continues to get a lot of positive feedback and go into the bag of more players each and every week. The Monza Spider putter is making its 1st major appearance and will be in the hands of five players including Sean O'Hair and Peter Lonard. >
