Long, Strong and Straight Off the Tee, Perry and Tour Burner Win Memorial

TaylorMade-adidas Golf Tour Staff professional Kenny Perry won the Memorial Tournament with a relentless combination of length and accuracy off the tee, time after time putting himself in position to hit greens and sink putts. Perry, one of the game's premier ball-strikers, recently switched to TaylorMade's new Tour Burner® driver, and with it averaged nearly 290 yards per tee shot and ranked in the top 10 in driving accuracy. That helped enable him to tie for seventh in greens in regulation, which is imperative at Muirfield Village Golf Club.
Arguably the hottest player on the PGA Tour, Perry in his previous three starts had finished T15 at The Players Championship, 2nd at the AT&T Classic and T46 at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial. The win at the Memorial was his third at that event, one of the most prestigious tournaments on the PGA Tour schedule, and elevated him to 5th place on the U.S. Ryder Cup points list, all but guaranteeing his place on this year's team. Perry has made it clear that his top priority in 2008 is to play in the Ryder Cup Matches, which will be held at Valhalla Country Club in his home state of Kentucky.
Three additional TaylorMade-adidas Golf Tour Staffers finished in a tie for 2nd behind Perry: Mike Weir, who also played a Tour Burner driver; Matt Goggin, who used a Rossa Monza Spider putter to rank T2nd in putts per GIR and 4th in putts per round; and Justin Rose, who played the TaylorMade TP Red golf ball with LDP technology. It was the highest finish at a PGA Tour event this year for all three players.
