After a sluggish start to the 2008 campaign, Callaway Golf Staff Professional Alastair Forsyth used four rounds and one extra hole in Madeira, Portugal, to turn his season around, winning the Madeira Islands Open BPI – Portugal on Sunday.

After finishing the tournament 15-under-par, Forsyth made a birdie 3 on the first extra hole to capture his second career PGA European Tour title. The Scotsman had missed the first five cuts of his 2008 season, but shot 70-70-66-67 to erase those memories in one weekend’s work. Forsyth started the final day at Santo de Serra five shots back.

He used the FT-5 Driver, the Tour ix Golf Ball, FT Fairway Woods, X-Forged Irons and an Odyssey White Hot 2-Ball Putter in his come-from-behind victory. It was the fifth time on this young season that Fusion Driver technology and a Tour i Series Golf Ball have teamed up to deliver victory on one of the world’s major professional tours.

“I went into the year feeling pretty good about my game after last year and I was hoping to carry that on but I made a really poor start with all the missed cuts,” Forsyth said. “But I have been playing all right over the past couple of weeks so I felt as if a good result was just around the corner.”

Forsyth's win was the second consecutive victory for a Callaway Golf Staff Pro on the PGA European Tour after Graeme McDowell won the Ballantine's Championship a week earlier. This week, McDowell finished 2-under-par at the World Golf Championships - CA Championship.

The Blue Monster in Doral, Florida, played host to that event. Unfortunately, Mother Nature did not cooperate and the tournament was forced to conclude on Monday. Callaway Golf Staff Professional Phil Mickelson tied for 20th at Doral. Lefty finished the tournament 8-under-par, shooting 67-74-70-69.

Mickelson used the FT-5 Driver, FT Tour 13° Fairway Wood, 2H FT Hybrid, X Prototype Irons, the Tour ix Golf Ball and an Odyssey White Hot XG #9 Putter.

On the Champions Tour, Callaway Golf Ball Staff Professional Brad Bryant tied for second place at the AT&T Champions Classic in Valencia, California. Bryant finished 7-under-par after shooting 70-67-72.
