New week…same, old story. For the fourth straight time she has teed it up on the LPGA Tour, Callaway Golf Ball Staff Professional Lorena Ochoa came away with a win, this time at the Ginn Open in Orlando. All of Ochoa’s victories have come using the Tour i Series Golf Ball from Callaway Golf.
She shot 68-67-65-69 to finish the tournament 19-under-par and win by three strokes. It was her fifth win in six starts this season, and she has now won more than twice the money on the season as her nearest competitor.
“I feel that it's been a blessing,” Ochoa said of her recent wins. “I'm just trying to enjoy my moment. And I would like to enjoy it for a long time. So even if it's going to be an up-and-down ride, hopefully I can stay there.”
Callaway Golf Staff Professional Morgan Pressel finished the tournament 4-under-par in a tie for 25th place.
Callaway Golf Staff Professional Leta Lindley recorded her second hole-in-one of the season in Thursday’s first round. Lindley’s ace came on a 135-yard, par-3 with her X-20 8-iron.
On the PGA Tour, new Callaway Golf Staff Professional Fredrik Jacobson tied for 12th place at the Verizon Heritage in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Jacobson finished the tournament 7-under-par by shooting 70-67-73-67. His 4-under-par 67 moved him from a tie for 27th to a tie for 12th at Harbour Town Golf Links.
Jacobson is using a Fusion Driver from Callaway Golf, the Tour 13°X Fairway Wood, a Big Bertha 5-wood, X-Forged Irons, the Tour ix Golf Ball and the Odyssey Black Series i #1 Putter.
On the PGA European Tour, a pair of Callaway Golf Staff Professionals enjoyed top-10 finishes at the Volvo China Open this weekend. Oliver Wilson tied for second place, shooting 72-66-70-79 to finish the tournament 1-under-par, nine shots back. It was Wilson’s second runner-up finish of the season and his second consecutive top-10 result.
Fellow Callaway Golf Staffer Graeme McDowell, who already has one victory on the European Tour this season, tied for fifth place. He finished the tournament even par after rounds of 73-72-68-75. It was McDowell’s fourth top-10 finish of the season. He is currently fifth on the European Tour Order of Merit.
The winner of the Volvo China Open used a Fusion Driver from Callaway Golf, an FT-i Squareway 3-wood and Callaway Golf irons. Five of the top-11 players in China had Callaway Golf drivers in their bags, and six of the top 11 had Odyssey Putters in play.
On the Nationwide Tour, Callaway Golf Staff Professional Bubba Dickerson had his second top-10 finish of the season with his sixth place showing at the Athens Regional Foundation Classic.
