Playing in the penultimate group in the final round of the Players Championship, TaylorMade-adidas Golf Tour Staff professional Sergio Garcia buried a seven-foot par-putt on the 72nd hole to stay within a shot of the lead. Moments later the leader, in the final twosome, missed his own 15-footer for par, forcing a sudden-death playoff with Sergio that started on the infamous par-three 17th at TPC Sawgrass. Challenged by strong winds that gusted throughout the day, Garcia's tee shot landed safely near the center of the island and trickled to within four feet of the cup; his opponent's found the water. Two putts later, the Spaniard had won the biggest event of his life, and had taken a huge step toward fulfilling his tremendous potential.

Though Garcia made several key birdie and par-saving putts on Sunday, it was his relentless tee-to-green game that made victory possible. On a "second-shot" course that demands precision approaches, he again and again found the proper fairway landing areas off the tee, thanks to the power and precision of his Tour Burner driver and the wind-cheating aerodynamics of his TP Red ball with LDP technology. Following his round on Sunday, he called the TP Red "easily the best ball in the wind that I've ever played."

Garcia's success off the tee thoughout the week put him in optimum position again and again to hit green after green, which proved a huge advantage over his competitors. For the week he averaged 283 yards off the tee, ranked No. 1 in driving accuracy and No. 1 in greens in regulation. In the first round he hit 16 of 18 greens; in the second round he hit every fairway.

Garcia, 28, has now won more PGA Tour titles, seven, than any player under 30. He has also won six times on the European Tour.
