As one of the deepest fields in professional golf gathered to play one of the most difficult venues on the PGA TOUR, Titleist was the most played golf ball with 94 players at the PLAYERS Championship, more than five times the nearest competitor with 17. In fact, only four players finished under par at TPC Sawgrass, with three of them relying upon Titleist golf balls for their success.
Fan favorite Paul Goydos (Pro V1) finished regulation at five-under 283 before being edged in a sudden-death playoff, while Jeff Quinney (Pro V1x) finished solo third, one shot off the playoff pace. It was the first playoff at the PLAYERS since 1987. Briny Baird (Pro V1) was the only other player to post red a red number with a one-under 287.
Not only was Titleist the top choice in golf balls, but it was also first in the wedge (130) and putter (46) categories, and second in drivers (32) and iron sets (30).
