The TaylorMade Tour Van is back in Grand Blanc, Michigan for the 2008 Buick Open and also returning is last year's champ Brian Bateman. Brian captured his first career PGA Tour win here last year and is back to defend his title despite an ailing shoulder. Kenny Perry, who won here back in 2001, is also in the field and has already won on the PGA Tour this year. Look for him to do well on this course as well.
The theme this week in the trailer was the new Burner Fairway Wood and Rescue. We received some new heads this week with Dual Crown Technology and the feedback has been great from the players.
New Burner Fairway Wood builds: Peter Lonard, Kenny Perry, Briny Baird. Gavin Coles, Carlos Franco, JP Hayes, and Jay Williamson
New Burner Rescue builds: Peter Lonard, Bob Sowards, Craig Barlow, Briny Baird, Scott Verplank
New Drivers were also big this week. We have 24 Tour Burner drivers in play, once again earning the No. 1 Driver model spot. Players who received new drivers included:
- Chad Collins - Tour Burner TP 10.5°
- Bob Estes - Tour Burner TP 9°
- Peter Lonard - r7 460 TP 10.5°
- Jay Williamson - r7 SuperQuad TP 9.5°
- John Senden - Two Tour Burner TP's with 62g and 67g Fujikura shafts
- Rod Pampling: New Tour Burner TP's with various shafts. We worked with Rod on the launch monitor to maximize loft and prevent his drives from going left
- Harrison Frazar: Tested Tour Burner TP on the launch monitor
On the wedge front, the Z TP continues to be the wedge of choice. Jay Williamson, Peter Lonard, Dustin Johnson and Martin Laird all came in requesting the Z TP.
As for irons, look for Tom Lehman to be playing the new Tour Burner irons for the first time and for Kenny Perry returning with the r7 TP's. Kenny has been very happy with the r7 TP performance and has trusted them for the past few weeks.
