TaylorMade-adidas Tour Staff professional Kenny Perry further burnished his status as the hottest player on the PGA Tour by winning the John Deere Classic in a playoff, his third PGA Tour title of the summer. The victory not only removed all doubt about his place on this year's U.S. Ryder Cup team, it also moved him up to second place on the FedEx points list. Perry drove the ball beautifully all week using a TaylorMade Tour Burner driver, averaging 292.5 yards off the tee. In the three-man playoff, which also included TaylorMade-adidas Tour Staff pro Jay Williamson, Kenny spanked the ball 299 yards off the tee into perfect position on the first hole, the 476-yard 18th. After his two opponents found the pond left of the green with their second shots, Kenny safely hit the green with his, then calmly two-putted for a par -- and the trophy.
