Fairhaven, MA (January 19, 2009) – While the season-opening Hawaii Swing came to a close, the momentum of Titleist continued. Titleist Brand Ambassadors posted a 1-2 finish at the Sony Open in Hawaii, as Zach Johnson fired four consecutive rounds in the 60's to edge Adam Scott by two shots. Scott tied for second with Titleist golf ball loyalist David Toms, both of whom trusted the new 2009 Pro V1 for their success.

The Sony Open marked the first full field event of the 2009 PGA TOUR season, and more players teed up the New 2009 Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls than any other model. Of the 144 players in the field, 98 (66%) trusted Titleist golf balls for their success, over five times the nearest competitor with 18. A combined 41 players relied upon the New 2009 Pro V1 (22) and Pro V1x (19). In addition to Scott and Toms’ runner-up finishes with the New 2009 Pro V1, Titleist Brand Ambassadors George McNeill and Bill Haas finished T7 and T9, respectively, playing the New 2009 Pro V1 golf ball. It marks the second runner-up finish in as many weeks for the new golf balls, as Davis Love III finished second to Geoff Ogilvy playing the New 2009 Pro V1x at last week’s Mercedes-Benz Championship. The New 2009 Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls will begin shipping to golf shops in February.

At the Sony Open, Johnson closed with a 5-under 65 to finish at 15-under 265, securing his fifth career PGA Tour title. Scott fired a final round 6-under 64, while Toms closed with a 66. Johnson is off to a scorching start this season, finishing 6th at the season-opening, winners-only Mercedes-Benz Championship last week. Statistically, Johnson tied for 3rd in Driving Accuracy with his Titleist 909D2 driver, while Adam Scott was 2nd in Putts Per Round (27.0) and 4th in Putts Per Greens in Regulation (1.667) with his Scotty Cameron putter.
