Tour i Series Golf Balls continued their impressive early season run on the LPGA Tour this week, with Callaway Golf Ball Staff Professional Lorena Ochoa using the Tour i Golf Ball to win the Safeway International Presented by Coca-Cola by an amazing seven strokes. It was her second straight Safeway International victory.

Ochoa’s win at Superstition Mountain, Arizona, was her second of the young season, both coming with the Tour i Golf Ball. Callaway Golf Staff Professional Annika Sorenstam, who uses the Tour ix Golf Ball and finished tied for ninth on Sunday, also has a win this season. Ochoa and Sorenstam are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the world, respectively.

Ochoa shot 65-67-68-66 to finish the tournament 22-under-par. Despite being tied for the lead at one point on Sunday, she made birdie on the ninth hole to grab a three-shot lead then used the back nine as a victory lap, coming home in 4-under 32.

“Once I enter the tournament, I know I can win and I play to win,” Ochoa said. “I always give 100 percent with me and my game. But I don't think it's good to get in a position where you expect to win and you feel comfortable with a win. I like how I'm playing, how I feel playing on Sunday, in the last group. I like to win, and I'll hopefully continue that.”

Sorenstam finished the tournament at 11-under-par after shooting 69-67-71-70 using the FT-5 Driver, Tour 15° X Fairway Wood, X 5-wood, X Prototype Irons, and the Odyssey White Hot 2-Ball Blade Putter—in addition to the Tour ix Golf Ball. She also wore Callaway Golf Tour Authentic Footwear.

The women of the LPGA Tour now turn their attention to the first major championship of the 2008 season, the Kraft Nabisco Championship in Rancho Mirage, California, which begins on Thursday. Callaway Golf Staff Professional Morgan Pressel is the defending champion.

On the PGA Tour, Callaway Golf Driver/Ball Staff Professional Marco Dawson continued his great start to the ’08 season at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. With a tie for tenth in the Big Easy, Dawson recorded his second top-10 finish in a row. Callaway Golf Ball Staff Professionals Peter Lonard (tied for second place using the Tour i) and Tim Petrovic (tied for 7th using the Tour ix) also enjoyed solid results.

On the Champions Tour, Callaway Golf Staff Professional Mark McNulty finished tied for 11th this weekend at the Ginn Championship Hammock Beach Resort. He finished even-par for the tournament in Palm Coast, Florida.
