It shouldn’t come as any great surprise, but Callaway Golf Ball Staff Professional Lorena Ochoa and Callaway Golf Staff Pros Annika Sorenstam, Morgan Pressel and Momoko Ueda are right where they want to be after one round at the LPGA’s first major championship of 2008.

Using the new Tour i Series Golf Ball, Ochoa opened with a 4-under-par 68 on Thursday at the Kraft Nabisco Championship in Rancho Mirage, California. That effort left her tied for second place, one shot off the lead. She has used the Tour i Golf Ball to win twice on the LPGA season already.

Pressel, Sorenstam and Ueda all opened with 1-under-par 71s and are part of a tie for 11th place, just four shots back. Pressel is trying to win the tournament for the second consecutive year after getting her first LPGA win at Mission Hills Country Club a year ago. She is using the FT-5 Driver, Big Bertha Strong 3-wood, X 5-wood, X 7-wood, 4H FT Hybrid, X-Forged Irons, the Tour ix Golf Ball and the Odyssey White Hot Tour 2 Putter.

“I felt more confident, knowing that I have played well here” said the defending champ. “And I hope I can do it again, play a little bit better the next couple days.”

Sorenstam is using the FT-5 Driver, Tour 15° X Fairway Wood, X 5-wood, X Prototype Irons, the Tour ix Golf ball and the Odyssey White Hot 2-Ball Blade Putter. “I love it here,” Sorenstam said. “I think it's a great golf course. It's tough when the wind is the way it is. It's tough when the greens are so firm. But again, it's tough, it knows how to reward good shots.”

Ueda, who is a rookie on the LPGA Tour, made four birdies and three bogeys during her first round. In 2007, she became a star on LPGA of Japan by winning five times and becoming the youngest player ever to finish first on that Tour's the money list.

This week the PGA Tour is in Humble, Texas, for the Shell Houston Open, the final stop before next week’s Masters Tournament. Callaway Golf Staff Professional J.J. Henry carded a 3-under-par 69 on Thursday and is tied for 13th place, six shots off the lead.

Henry made five birdies and two bogeys on the day using the FT 3-wood, a 2H FT Hybrid, X Prototype Irons, the Tour i Golf Ball and the Odyssey White Hot XG 7M Long Putter.

On the PGA European Tour, Callaway Golf Staff Professional Alastair Forsyth is tied for sixth place after one round at the Estoril Open de Portugal. Forsyth fired a 6-under-par 65 at Oitavos Dunes. He is two shots off the lead and looking for his second win in three weeks after capturing the Madeira Islands Open, also in Portugal, two weeks ago.

Fellow Callaway Golf Staff Pro Barry Lane opened with a 4-under-67 and is tied for 14th place.
