Callaway Golf Ball Staff Professional Lorena Ochoa used the Tour i Series Golf Ball to win the first major championship of the LPGA season Sunday, running away with the Kraft Nabisco Championship by five strokes in Rancho Mirage, California. Callaway Golf Staff Professional Annika Sorenstam finished tied for second place.

It was Ochoa’s third win this year with the Tour i Golf Ball and the second major championship win of her career. She finished the tournament 11-under-par by shooting 68-71-71-67 then celebrated with the traditional leap into Poppie’s Pond at the 18th green at Mission Hills Country Club.

Tour i Series Golf Balls have now won four times on the LPGA Tour this season.

“It was a great day,” Ochoa said. “I woke up this morning and I was feeling great and I had a good feeling and just trying to not get too uptight and be calm and do my routine. For some reason I couldn't stop thinking of that jump in the lake. It was something that I've been waiting a long time for.”

Sorenstam showed her legendary grit and determination by playing through a stomach virus that put her in the hospital and nearly out of the tournament on Saturday. Weakened from the illness, the Swede struggled to a 40 on her front-nine Saturday, but came home in an amazing 3-under-par 33 to stay in contention. She shot 71-70-73-68 for the tournament to finish 6-under-par.

Sorenstam used the FT-5 Driver, Tour 15° X Fairway Wood, X 5-wood, X Prototype Irons, the Tour ix Golf Ball and the Odyssey White Hot 2-Ball Blade Putter to record her fifth consecutive top-10 finish of the season. Sorenstam also wore Callaway Golf Tour Authentic Footwear.

“I'm very proud of this week,” Sorenstam said on Sunday. “There was a time yesterday I didn't know if I was going to finish and I'm glad I hung in there, and then come today and post a really solid score. I gave it all, I can tell you that.”

Bidding for his second win in three weeks, Callaway Golf Staff Professional Alastair Forsyth came up just short at the PGA European Tour’s Estoril Open de Portugal. He finished tied for second place after falling in a sudden-death playoff. Forsyth was looking for his second win in Portugal this season after winning the Madeira Islands Open BPI two weeks earlier.

Forsyth used the FT-5 Driver, an FT Fairway Wood, X-Forged Irons, the Tour ix Golf Ball and the Odyssey White Hot 2-Ball Putter to finish the tournament 18-under-par after shooting 65-69-66-66.

On the PGA Tour, Callaway Golf Staff Professional Phil Mickelson prepped for this week’s Masters Tournament with a tie for 23rd at the Shell Houston Open. He finished the tournament 6-under-par after shooting 72-68-71-71.

On the Champions Tour, Callaway Golf Staff Professional Eduardo Romero tied for ninth place at the Capa Cana Championship in the Dominican Republic. Romero finished the tournament 7-under-par, seven shots back. Callaway Golf Ball Staff Professional Mark Bryant finished the tournament 6-under-par in a tie for 12th place.
